Trillium Mississauga Hospital
The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital Redevelopment is one of Ontario’s most significant healthcare infrastructure projects, replacing the existing Mississauga Hospital with a modern, digitally connected, patient-centred facility designed to meet the region’s growing healthcare needs.
Delivered through a Progressive Design Build Finance Maintain (PDBFM) model, the project brings together Trillium Health Partners, Infrastructure Ontario, EllisDon, PCL, and Plan Group in a collaborative approach that promotes early stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and alignment throughout design and construction.
SERVICES
Plan Group is providing the complete electrical and technology infrastructure for the new hospital. The scope includes power distribution, normal and emergency power systems, generators, UPS systems, grounding and bonding, and digital metering. Additional work includes lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, synchronized clock systems, structured cabling, Wi-Fi, audiovisual systems, distributed antenna systems (DAS), real-time location services (RTLS), and sound masking technologies to support both clinical and operational environments.
The project utilizes BIM and VDC coordination to enhance design accuracy, improve constructability, and streamline collaboration among project partners. Key challenges such as market volatility have been addressed through contractual hyper-escalation protections, while integrated design strategies and optimized layouts support long-term adaptability, operational efficiency, and future healthcare demands. Construction includes approximately 60,000 receptacles, 50,000 light fixtures, 60,000 data drops, 15,000 fire alarm devices, 13,000 nurse call devices, 18 million feet of building wire, and 15 million feet of EMT conduit.
