Substantial Completion! Bruce Power Tool Storage Facility
Plan Group completed the Mechanical, Electrical and Technology work at Bruce Power’s Tiverton, Ontario project in record time.The Tool Storage Facility (TSF) is a warehouse building that serves quite an important purpose: Managing tools that have been exposed to low-level radiation. Bruce Power already has many mechanisms in place to protect employees, the land, and the neighbouring community from exposure to radiation, and the TSF building is another critical piece in that ongoing effort.
Designed with safety at the forefront, the 11,000m2 TSF building’s main purpose is to receive, sort, contain and treat tools that have been used in hot zones, in order to prevent any low-level radiation from leaking into the surrounding area.
In roughly 6 months the Team Plan Group completed:
- All of the mechanical, electrical and systems work;
- An advanced HEPA air filtration and monitoring system, designed to capture microscopic radioactive particulates;
- Installation of the monitoring system that keeps a close watch on the radiation intake of employees who frequent the building.
We are proud to collaborate with Bruce Power, Bird Construction and Johnson Controls on this important project. Congratulations to everyone involved.
